Mr. Meengs has over 20 years of legal experience and focuses his practice on estate planning, elder law, real estate and general corporate matters. Mr. Meengs’ estate planning services include the drafting and administration of wills and trusts; guardianship and conservatorship matters; special needs and disability planning; probate litigation; name changes; and adoption. In addition, Bill provides his clients practical advice and solutions regarding elder law issues such as Medicaid planning and qualification. Bill does not believe in a “one size fits all” approach to estate planning and takes the time to listen to his client’s life situations and wishes in determining the best estate planning vehicle for that client. He then prepares a customized document to accomplish the client’s plan.

Bill is a member of the State Bar of Michigan Probate and Estate Planning Section and Elder Law and Disability Rights Section, and the US District Court for the Western District of Michigan. He is a member of the Board for the Estate Planning Council of Northern Michigan, Northern Community Mediation and the Petoskey Regional Chamber of Commerce. In addition, he is a member of the Development and Marketing Committee for the Petoskey-Harbor Springs Area Community Foundation, past President of the Charlevoix-Emmet County Bar Association and former member of the board of the McLaren Northern Michigan Foundation..

Bill is a former intern for US District Judge Richard A. Enslen, and is included in the 2012 and 2013 editions of Marquis Who’s Who in America. Bill’s past employment includes the UAW Legal Services Plan in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Plunkett Cooney, P.C. and owner/principal of Meengs Law Group, PLC.

He is a 1994 graduate of the University of Louisville School of Law, a 1991 graduate of Hope College, and a 1987 graduate of Petoskey High School.

In his free time, Bill enjoys tennis, sailing, reading and cycling. In the winter months he is active in the Char-Em Adult Hockey Association.
